Great RackGreat rack. It's easy to put on the car and easy to load and unload bikes. Very solid and great for the price.
OK rack, a couple of shortcomings.Have had my rack 3 weeks. It is reasonably well made and looks sturdy. Bikes go on easily. The rubber frame holders work well with my hard tail bikes. A couple of bungees or the included strap should keep your bikes from swinging; you don't need the struts or fancy clamps.
Two problems: first, the locking-bolt hole for the 1-1/2 inch bar is too close to the end, causing the bar not to fit all the way into the receiver (weak!) and making the rack stick out at least 3 inches farther than it should on my car (Subaru Forester). Why not have two holes, like my old Saris rack? Second, to fold or unfold the crossbars (that the bikes go on), you have to remove/replace a bolt with a unlock nut, requiring 2 wrenches. This should be a tool-free affair with a carriage bolt and a big wing nut.
Thule is the world leader within Sports Utility Transportation delivering transportation solutions for active families, professionals and outdoor enthusiasts wanting to transport their equipment by vehicles safely, easily and in style.
The product portfolio comprises load carriers for cars such as rooftop boxes, roof rails and bike carriers. Additionally, the company offers snow chains, trailers, towing systems as well as accessories for motor homes and caravans.
Thule has approx 4000 employees at over 30 production and sales locations on all major car markets in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Thule was founded by the Thulin family back in 1942. It is one of the typical Swedish entrepreneurial companies that have developed profitably year after year.
The turning point for Thule came in the 1960s when the family decided to concentrate its business on car-related products, and the first roof rack was developed. In 1979 the company was sold to the public listed company Eldon and it continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions (trailers and rooftop box manufacturing). In 1999 the private equity firm EQT acquired the company and developed it further with increased focus on growth and profitability until 2004, when the current owner – UK-based private equity firm Candover – took over together with 60 management representatives.
The word Sweden is still an important component in the company logo. Once it was a symbol for the origin of the company, while today it stands for the inherent values of a Scandinavian-based company, namely solid quality, timeless design, continuous innovation, and respect for nature and all co-workers.
